The Slavic dragon Zmei resembles a classical dragon and a winged serpent or snake. This dragon-like creature in Ukraine had 3 heads that spit fire. He guarded the path where souls traveled to the underworld. Some believed that serpents would turn into Zmei after a certain number of years. The dragon Smok started life as a snake and turned into a dragon with age becoming a master of weather and water.
