CAD $65.00

The Handmade Domovik Birch Bark Talismanic Container is perfect to add to any sacred space or money altar. The text it roughly translated reads “Money to the Home”

According to Slavic folklore all homes have a Domovik. Believed to be the soul of deceased members of the family, making him a part of ancestor worship traditions. Traditionally living at the threshold under the entrance, in the attic, or in the hearth behind the stove. Everyone took care to not disturb the smouldering remains of fires to keep their ancestors from falling through the grate. If the spirit is satisfied with the household, he acts as a guardian. He helps with chores, feeds the animals, and protects the residence and those that dwell inside.

To attract Domovoy to your home, go outside wearing your best clothing. Speak aloud “Dedushka Dobrokhot, please come into my house and tend the flocks”. If you ever move you must make an offering to him and say “Domovoy! Domovoy! Don’t stay here but come with our family!”

Birch is associated with purification, protection and exorcism, and represents renewal, rebirth and beginnings as it is the first tree after Winter to come into leaf. To ward off the evil eye, tie a red ribbon on the branch of one of these lovely trees. To exorcise people and animals by gently striking them with birch twigs. This is a tree of new beginnings and new view points. Birch rods are used in protection spells and carried to protect from malicious magic. Such as curses, crossing, or hexing or even from mundane situations and people.
