My Baba was an amazing lady. When asked about her, I would always say “Oh she’s good; she’s a brick shithouse!”. I know that sounds glib, but she was a powerhouse of a woman. Bordering on 6 feet tall, she could and would do anything she set her mind to. She would speak to me in Ukrainian English, “Don’t sleep in the moonlight! It will make you strange!” she would tell me, though I continued to inch forwards towards it. “Figoosmakam!” she would yell, meaning “a fistful of poppyseeds” when something was worth nothing. I miss her so much.

She was known for her inventive uses of everyday mundane items. 6-pack plastic pop can rings turned into magnificent flowers, valentines made out of bits of scrap paper, ice cream buckets keeping frozen pierogi safe, and strawberry containers growing precious liberated seeds that were procured from the alley. With her imagination everything had a second life.

Adjust the arm according to flame height, drop your resins in the cup or if you like easy clean up line the cup with tin foil.
