Witch Ball Aqua Globe ~ Vintage
CAD $40.00
I find it so hilarious that something from my youth that is just a mundane item is actually totally witchy. “The Aqua Globe, is a “handblown glass ornament that waters your plants for you,” it contains a colored glass bulb attached to an elongated stem. You fill the bulb with water, jam the stem into a houseplant’s soil, and the globe releases water as needed. “You can’t over-water, you can’t under-water…plants stay perfectly watered for up to two weeks, and you don’t have to lift a finger!” Small or large houseplants, hanging plants, patio plants, and “even finicky exotic plants” get the Goldilocks hydration.”
This my friends is totally a witch ball. I keep them in my garden to aid in protection and well the just look cool.
The witch ball originated among cultures where harmful magic and those who practiced it were feared. One of many folk magic practices involving objects for protecting the household from evil spirits. They may be hung or placed in an eastern windows, placed on top of a vase, or suspended by a cord (as from the mantelpiece or rafters), placed on sticks in windows or hung in rooms where the inhabitants wanted to ward off evil. Appearing in America in the 19th century. Larger more opaque variations are often found in gardens under the name gazing ball. Glass studios traditionally make a witch ball as the first object to be created in a new studio.
Beautiful handmade blown glass orb to protect you and yours.
You will receive 1 vintage 2000’s Aqua Witch Ball.
