White Drop Candles ~ 4in

These vintage Swedish drop candles (called droppljus) are made of pure stearin – the highest standard for Swedish candles. Stearin is not petroleum based as parrafin. The burning quality with stearin is superior – with longer burning times and cleaner flames. The 4 in candles have a burn time for 6-7 hours. Fits in standard size taper candle holder.
The use of candles in rituals can be traced back to ancient civilizations & one of the earliest recorded uses dates back to ancient Egypt, where they were used in religious ceremonies. It was believed that the light of the candle helped guide the soul in to the afterlife. During the Middle Ages candles began to take on specific colours & symbolism. This period also saw the development of candle iconography, where the shape of the candle held meaning. Taper candles, with their gradual, pointed shape, were often used for focused intention work while figure candles, shaped like crosses, people, or symbols, represented specific energies.
