Religious incense censers, burners, and perfume or pastille burners are vessels made for burning incense. They have been in use since ancient times throughout the world. In many cultures, burning incense has spiritual and religious connotations and this influences the design and decoration of the censer.
In Western context the term “censer” is used for religious use and usually ones on chains. They are swung through the air to spread the incense smoke widely. Some could also be used like pomanders, where the perfume diffuses slowly by evaporation rather than burning.
Use to burn small incense sticks, cones, or granular resin incense on top of charcoal. This burners wide opening makes it easy to fill with sand for use. All type of incense can be burned and you don’t have to worry about ashes.
