CAD $20.00

This potent cleanser and protective agent is a Slavic twist to Cascarilla or white eggshell powder. It is alleged to offer healing and protection. Dust on the body or dissolve into water to create a liquid bath or floor wash. Sprinkle sigils, pattens, or symbols on the floor around the home.

Many superstitions were attached to pysanky, they were thought to protect households from evil spirits, catastrophe, lightning, and fires. Eggs with spiral motifs were the most powerful, as demons and other unholy creatures would be trapped within the spirals forever. If pysanky were blessed they could be used to find demons hidden in the dark corners of the home.

These eggs were thought to hold a very powerful magic and thusly had to be disposed of properly… Lest a witch get a hold of one. As she could use the shell to gather dew, and use it to dry up a cow’s milk. The witch could also use bits of the eggshell to poke people & sicken them. The eggshell had to be ground up very finely or broken into pieces & tossed into a running stream. The cloth used to dry pysanky was also powerful & offered its owner healing & was alleged to be used to cure skin diseases. It was considered very bad luck to trample on a pysanka – God would punish anyone who did with a variety of illnesses.

All the eggs were ritually decorated and later crushed by The Witch
