Mugwort Smoke Bundle
CAD $22.00
Mugwort is burned as a sacred smoke cleansing herb for protection or divination. It enhances astral projection, lucid dreaming and altered states of consciousness. Some say that simply keeping mugwort under your pillow or in your bedroom will encourage prophetic dreams. Others say you must burn or smoke it when working with divination tools like tarot or pasyan cards. In Slavic folklore it was believed that holding mugwort in your hand when asking for a favour will make them unable to say no. During Kupala it served as a love potion and was said to be most potent when collected during Midsummer Eve or on Full Moons. Crowns of mugwort were worn during Midsummer to protect against ghosts, evil witchcraft, and illness. This garland was worn while dancing around the bonfire and then thrown into it at the end of the night to ensure protection throughout the year.
Mugwort is a component of magical fire-brooms used to protect one’s home against wildfire. This broom was used to sweep and protect one’s path between worlds. In Slavic tradition mugwort is often interchangeable with wormwood and repels rusalki. Mugwort is used in protective sachets and is said to prevent delays, and other annoyances associated with traveling. Protecting the traveler from accidents, thieves and other dangers. When Russian mothers helped their daughters prepare the dowry for marriage, they would stuff the pillows with thyme, oregano, and mugwort.
