Domovik House Spirit ~ Brass & Baltic Amber Amulet

CAD $65.00

In Slavic folklore and mythology, all homes have a Domovik / Domovoi who is believed to be the soul of one (or all) of the deceased members of the family, making him a part of ancestor worship traditions. Traditionally living at the threshold under the entrance, in the attic, or mainly in the hearth or behind the stove, everyone took care to not disturb the smouldering remains of a fire to keep their ancestors from falling through the grate. If the spirit is satisfied & on good terms with the household, it acts as a guardian, helping with chores, feeding the animals & protecting the residence and those that dwell in the house.

To attract a Domovoy, go outside of your house wearing your best clothing & say aloud “Dedushka Dobrokhot, please come into my house and tend the flocks.” or When moving, make an offering & say “Domovoy! Domovoy! Don’t stay here but come with our family!”

Baltic Amber amulets were worn or carried for protection from diseases & against being killed in a battle. People believed that amber “pulled out” disease from the body & attracted good luck – in the same way as it attracts small objects if you slightly rub it. It was believed that amber adornments averted misfortune, kept its owner safe from black magic, cast out devils, guarded one from the evil eye, brought luck in love, and made it’s owner stronger & cleverer.

You will receive 1 domovoi.
