Domovik Ancestral Offering Hearth Shrine ~ Pre-Order

CAD $100.00

Long before modern roads crossed the countryside, forests still pressed close against villages and the rhythm of life followed the turning of seasons, there stood a cottage. Its walls were dark with age and smoke, its roof thick with thatch, and at its heart burned a clay stove, the sacred centre of the home. In Slavic belief, the hearth is not merely a place of warmth. It is the soul of the household. And in that house, unseen but never absent, dwelled a Domovik, the house spirit.

In Slavic folklore, every home hosts a Domovik or Domovoi. Believed to embody the soul of one or more deceased family members. This belief integrates him into ancestor worship traditions. Families honoured their Domoviks by creating small icons or figurines made from wood, cloth, or clay. The shrine was usually located in a central part of the home near the stove. They served as focal points for offerings and communing with spirits. People maintained a relationship through regular offerings and rituals. When the spirit was satisfied and on good terms, it guarded the home. Helping with chores, feeding the animals, and protecting the home and those who dwelled in it.

This Offering Shrine was created because most homes no longer have hearths. Bring the soul back to your home with this mini sacred space, that may be used to offer food, incense, and candles to your Spirits, Ancestors, and Beloved Dead. Burn Incense as offerings, to carry your wishes, desires, and when casting your spells. Or simply light the beeswax candle and bring honour to your ancestors.
