Blackberry Twigs

CAD $6.50

The thorny branches are used for protection and are ruled by Aries and fire. It was said Lucifer landed in brambles when he was cast down from heaven and thus he cursed them so that they would be ugly. Enraged by the pain of the thorns, Lucifer spat on the bush cursing the berries, the rich sweetness of the fruit turning bitter and thin. The Devil certainly knows how to hold a grudge, as on the anniversary of his fall each year you’ll still find that the blackberries have turned, almost overnight. For country folk these berries were now cursed, and best not be eaten. It’s also thought that he hates them so much that he will stomp on them during Michealmas Day, and after that it is unlucky to harvest them. Other folklore says this happens on Halloween.

Blackberry is protective against crappy people, earthbound spirits, and vampires. It is alleged that if planted near the home, a vampire would not be able to enter because he would obsessively count the berries and forget what he was about. Blackberry can be woven into protective wreaths, the twigs, thorns and leaves can also be added to charm bags or burned for general household protection, protection against spirits, & also for prosperity.

Blackberry thorns can be used for cursing and hexing spell work. These shrubs are considered invasive and grow swiftly. So they can be added to spells or charms that you wish to take over and spread fast. In several world myths, blackberries have been said to cause blindness to those who fall into the brambles, so the thorns could be used to interfere with people’s perception.
