Warm to the touch and often containing insect fragments Baltic amber was believed to contain the very essence of life itself – the animating principle. It had associations with time, cycles & longevity. As it once was a living substance, it is related to spirit. Slavic tribes thought amber magical because of its warm feel, its lightness & luster. Some believed amber was the petrified tears of gods.

Baltic Amber Jewelry is worn to avert misfortune and for protection, keeping its owner safe from black magic. It cast out devils, guarded one from evil eye, brought luck in love, healed, and made its owner stronger and cleverer. People believed that amber “pulled out” a disease from the body and “attracted” good luck – in the same way as it attracts small objects if you slightly rub it. It was alleged that eagles would place pieces of amber in their nests to protect them from snakes.
