Thursday's Salt

Thursday’s Salt is the slavic version of Witches Salt. Prepared the day before Good Friday which is a day of great magical significance. Some put salt outside on the Wednesday night to sit “under the stars“, and others bring it to church to be blessed by the priest.

The preparation and use of the salt is a pagan custom. So sneaky women hide it in their Easter baskets, bring it to church, and have it blessed by the priest during Easter service. The priest does not even realize he is blessing it. Some believe that fresh salt needs to be made every year but I disagree. Something so sacred and magical would not be discarded. I think this was said to prevent it all being used up right away.
