Three Horseman

In slavic folklore, Baba Yaga‘s forest is patrolled by three horsemen, who wear clothing that match the colours of their horses. They are said to represent dawn, midday, and twilight. The White Rider appears at dawn heralding Day. The Red Rider appears at noon heralding the Sun. The Black Rider appears at the end of day heralding Night. Her links to nature and the cycle of time are emphasized by her servants. She calls them ‘My Bright Dawn, My Red Sun and My Dark Midnight’ because they control daybreak, sunrise, and nightfall.
